Ten Minutes With the City's Oldest Barber
Walter Greaves is ninety-one and still cuts hair three mornings a week in the shop on Delancey he opened in 1961. He has given haircuts to four mayors, one astronaut, and, by his count, eleven thousand boys on their way to their first job interview.
His advice to the young barbers who stop in to watch: “Listen more than you cut. The hair grows back. The conversation doesn't.”
